Pedals are fun, but your basic tone is gonna be sub par until you get a good amp.
No one ever wants to hear this because good amps are expensive and having to wait goes against our need for instant gratification, G.A.S., and desire to spend the money that's burning a hole in our pocket NOW.

But if you really want to get a tangible benefit from the experience of us older players and learn from our mistakes, pay attention, this is a KEY point.

You are better off saving up your money and investing in the right tube amp before you spend a lot of money on effects. PATIENCE NOW WILL SAVE YOU MONEY IN THE LONG RUN.

It won't kill you now to invest a few basic classics that you'll always use -- like a good wah -- make the right choices and you'll have them forever. But if you've got $200 to spend on gear, you might just want to put it toward a new amp. And saving up for it will give you the time necessary to do your homework and find out what kind of amp is best for your needs.
