Backing Tracks To Download

I wonder if it is possible to have a place at the new site where people here can share backing tracks they have made to songs or just tracks to jam over... It is pretty hard to find on the internet and some of them is pretty bad... So if some guys here have good tracks they have made by themself, why don´t share them with your Dino-friends??

Or the easy way, do someone of you guys know any good site... I only have GuitarBT on my list and Google don´t generate to a lot of good sites :sad2:

You can get software that lets you construct your own tracks, but I don't know if any of them cater for the metalheads of this world.

Band-in-a-box is more for jazz musicians, for example.

I have guitar Pro 5. It is midi based but this version produces a less shitty sound thanks to the "Realistic Sound Engine". You can disable any track, slow down, loop, detune, etc...it's really cool to practice with and worth the money IMHO. In the past, you could find a ton of songs on www.mysongbook.com, including a lot of metal (of course tab quality varies a lot). But RIAA sued them and they had to remove all copyrighted songs (like 99%). However you can still find them on P2P, it's a big ZIP or RAR file.

If I want a better quality, for recording, I export the Guitar Pro tracks to midi and import them in Cubase SX3. Then I use VST plugins for bass and keyboard, and Eazy Drummer for the drums but this is not a solution for practising only.

I have Guitar Pro, but I don´t think that is too god drum sounds there with the RSE and the midi files isn´t to exciting... Plus I want to them on a CD so I can put them in my stereo and practice them in my room (maybe have little show for myself :biggrin2:)

But thanks anyway... Eazy Drummer does that work without Cubase??

No. I agree the RSE sound is not that great to say the least. A few years ago, I had a Drum Box Boss DR-5 which had 4 instrument tracks and a very realistic sound (for that time). Unfortunately the memory was too small to have more than 4-5 songs, if I wanted to use it without a PC. There are not so many solutions outside a real drummer: either you have to use some hardware (drum box, a good sound card with built in samples, a keyboard, sampler...) a drive it with midi, or use a sequencer/recording software (Cubase, Cakewalk,...) with plug ins like VSTs, EzDrummer, Drumkit from Hell,...

A plugin is a piece of software that emulates an instrument or an effect. The best ones for drums are based on recorded samples (not from synthetized tone) and can take a lot of memory (and are pricey too). Ez Drummer is a good compromise.

Note: This week end, there was the annual party of my village and suddenly power went off and so did the music. When it came back I heard the Windows boot jingle in the PA (made by Brian Eno, btw)...I looked at the DJ booth and shure instead of turntables there was a big 17" computer screen...Now everyone is using computers instead of CDs, I'm shure if you use a laptop with Guitar Pro, a few people will notice the difference in quality !

I have Guitar Pro on a stationed computer with normal speakers but the thing is that I want it into my room so I can play without a complaining family beside me...

I am not going to record anything with it just play 'cause I am bandless for the moment and I want more sound than just a lonesome guitar when I play!!

I have to convert to mp3 and upload. Maybe in some dayls.

Think in some song for customize for you. It's funny to pass my spare time making backing tracks (good one is about 3 days of programing, 3 of mixing).

Difficult to Cure:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=C9DEOEVR

Bass is a sampled bass. I think I have a better mix version. I'll serch it.

Song starts whit drum fill (not octaved guitar intro).

Joe Satriani's Crying:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XGIMKUX0

There is some kick drum that scapes from mix, but I've missed the original file and can't fix it.

UFO's Doctor Doctor (SITN version)

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=79DRQL4N

I've put a rithm guitar (maybe too high in the mix).

VH's I'm the one

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=017ZS6H6

Song starts whit a clip and 3 hit-hats.

I've shorted the center vocal part.

UFO's Love to love (SITN version)

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=I31Q1IA1

The "strange" time signature isn't at all. If you listen to the key melody, it's the same that the intro. Only memorize the guitar riff. Rest of the song is very easy (but beautifull).

VH's Right now

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=CQ9P1MLV

Again, time signature is 4/4 (even seems not). Try finding some tab. God song for learn 16 notes.

Joe Satriani's Satch boogie

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ZXKLMX4D

It's me on the bass. Mp3 conversion has modified h-h and cymbals sound.

Gary Moore's Still got the blues

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HXC9XP7Z

I've make that only for experiment whit a good string-piano arrange (Don Airey's arrange).
