Thin Lizzy Re mixes of Jailbreak and Johnny the Fox

Post: # 252363Post Dinosaur David B

There's some new stuff in here. Mostly some ear candy and vocal parts that were muted out in the originals, such as voiceover on the title track intro (yuck), and the sax part in Running Back, outro licks on Don't Believe a Word, intro licks on Fools Gold. Slightly differently EQ on certain things.
You'd think you'd be able to make the original tracks a lot punchier these days. There's some of that (check out the drum sound difference on Johnny the Fox meets Jimmy the Weed), but it's not as dramatic as you'd think.  The album that could really use a remix like this is Fighting.

Probably worth a listen for the true die-hards.

Also some demos, outtakes, alternate, and live versions for those who like that stuff.

New versions start at track 10

I bought that 1976 Box set. My 2 favorite Lizzy albums. It’s really good and was a must have. I also noticed the difference in the drum sounds.

I'm guessing they've not done what Queen did to the first album - didn't they pitch correct Freddie and use drum samples or something like that?

Is that for real? That's blasphemy! I can't imagine Brian May signing off on that shit

I heard something about that as well. Totally stupid and unnecessary.  :obscene-tolietclaw:

BTW, regarding the Lizzy remixes -- I almost never like these things, but these are growing on me. There is some cool shit on the tracks that aren't on the originals. And of course the overall sound is bigger and more dimensional than the originals.

Give em a chance, you might be surprised.
