One thing I always appreciated about this site, is the qualification of melody, among admired guitarists here.  I hear people all the time ripping, purposely.  It sounds like a mess, because it is a mess.  One reason I got into blues music in my 20s, was the phrasing.  In many cases with the real innovators of electric blues music, their ears were all they had, so that's what they used.  As a result, all that shit is listenable and it means something.  Too many Guithrie Govan wannabes now, that have never bothered to listen to what it is they're trying to to do.  To be fair, there's also a shitload of blues and country players now, that don't listen, either.  I mean, they sound like shit, too
