The infamous JCM800 channel switcher that apparently no player alive aside of Mad Mikey can make sound good.

i had one, for about 3 weeks. i dont get the hate for the 2205/2210s. mine was hannibal lecter in a tuxedo. i swapped it for a dsl50 only because the dsl gave up that ass at more reasonable volume. 800s are really god-tier amps. standing in front of mine at full cry was like crashing a car.

Mikey is still playing these amps, 40 years later. There must be something to them, obviously. It's just that I never see anyone speaking kindly of them.bourbonsamurai wrote: ↑Fri Feb 02, 2024 4:21 am i had one, for about 3 weeks. i dont get the hate for the 2205/2210s. mine was hannibal lecter in a tuxedo. i swapped it for a dsl50 only because the dsl gave up that ass at more reasonable volume. 800s are really god-tier amps. standing in front of mine at full cry was like crashing a car.

John Norum swears by the 2205/2210 as well.

I'm not really interested in STOCK amps owned by famous players (or paying for the player's name). If it's modded and unique, that's one thing, but a stock 800 owned by Schenker isn't gonna be any different from any other 800.
It's not a restring until I'm bleeding.

Schenker doesn't strike me as a huge amp modding fan. Or a gear hound in general for that matter. He seems to just want something that gets the job done. I would be surprised, if engaging on a conversation with him, if he is aware of tube brands, pickups, strings, etc.Dinosaur wrote: I'm not really interested in STOCK amps owned by famous players (or paying for the player's name). His rig has always been real simple. One of the guys who found what he liked and mostly stuck with it.
