Morphine is good stuff when you need it.  But it's good to avoid needing it.

Well, I'm still kicking
 Thanks for asking.. I had my L2 thru L5 fused with a rod, pins and a cage. How successful it was remains to be determined.. Not an experience I can recommend very highly.
