Hello everybody
Hi everyone. My name is Diederik, and I live in Rotterdam, The Netherlands with my wife and our dog.
I've been a longtime lurker of the website, dating back to the dial-up days. The first page I found was the alchemy profile on Slash, as I idolized the guy at that time. From there, I went further down the rabbit hole to discover other great players and bands, thanks to the website. I don't know why I didn't join the forum back then. I guess it just wasn't on my radar at the time.
Favorite (Dinosaur) players: Ritchie Blackmore, Billy Gibbons, Jimi Hendrix, Tony Iommi, Jimmy Page, Joe Perry, Slash, Eddie van Halen, Zakk Wylde, Angus Young.
I play guitar myself, although recently not as much as I'd like to. My main guitar is a Fender American deluxe ash Strat, and the amplifier I use is a Blackstar Series One 45 combo. Played in several bands playing mostly covers of 70s rock bands. Things I like besides music are photography, writing, martial arts, and making podcasts.
In 2016, I quit my job, sold all my stuff, and backpacked around half the world while working odd jobs. A year into that adventure, I started a podcast with the idea of having long conversations with interesting people (then called "The Polarizer Podcast, recently renamed to "Diederik's Beach Bar"). This was during the pre-covid days, so it started out as face-to-face conversations. When the pandemic hit, this wasn't really possible anymore, so I decided to reach out to people online. One of those people was Dave, and he agreed to come on to the show, which I'm still very happy about. You can find our conversations on this page: Dinosaur Rock Guitar
