So it looks like 10 people voted. My top album of the year got excluded from the list....so for me it was down to Grand Magus, Tora Tora, Helloween and the End: Machine. I did listen to the albums by Angel Witch, LA Guns and Herman Frank as well. Also heard tracks off the Michael Sweet album. I just have not had time to go through them all. The End: Machine I almost voted for. I think that was an excellent release and I plan on buying that one. Grand Magus almost got my vote as well because they are one of my favorite bands and the new album did not disappoint. I ultimately went with the live Helloween album. Even though its not new material....it is a great live album and video release and got me excited about those guys again.

None in the list would make my top 10 (well maybe 1). Guess i'm getting old and to fussy. My top 2 were unexpected for me, one a new band and the other i was never a big fan of until their latest release...go figure. Not gonna mention either. :p

Been a strange year really, at least from my PoV.
Haven't discovered any new bands that captured my interest, so I've either got stuff from years ago that I'd missed (Riverdogs), or old acts that are still active (Dream Theater, Whitesnake, Michael Sweet).
Although thinking about it 2018 wasn't that different.
Donthegreek - I think we're ALL getting old and fussy!!!

When we're down to less than 15 people voting the whole thing is pointless anyway.

I don't own any of the albums listed so am in no position to vote this year.

I just don't listen too much anymore. I often find new things to appreciate in the old stuff, and I love it so much I just don't want to spend my precious listening time checking out something new.
I do give new things a try if prompted by members here whose opinions I value, and it's rare I don't like something members here record themselves.

I've only listened to one of the albums on the list this year. Makes it hard to make an informed vote

I've heard 7 releases off this list, sometimes 2-3 songs, sometimes full albums, on YouTube or Bandcamp. I voted for The Mothercrow's "Magara", a lively -and lovely - album of hazy heavy blues and vintage hard rock. IMO what sets this album apart from many other acts in the very crowded "retro" niche, is the strong vocal character of the singer and the fine articulate guitar work of our own MadX (who was already a DRG member as a kid 10+ years ago). "Magara" even has great cover art.

I voted, I admit it was for Whitesnake, did I buy it yes, do it think it was album of the year/ honestly I don't know, but i liked it and it was listed and I parted with cash for it, so hey... but 2019 was not a great year, but then that seems to be a recurring statement for metal music since...............
