I readily admit that KXM-Circle of Dolls and Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush are the only ones of my nominees that fit into the DRG definition.

But I do feel an album so laden with heavy guitar riffs as Darkthrones "Old Star" should be considered DRG.

But I´m in principal with Dave, and won´t mind in the least if my nominees are taken off the list.

I wouldn't object either if mine are not included.

Honestly I don't know what to include this year. What follows is a wild guess:

Grand Magus-Wolf God

Tora Tora-Bastards of Beale

Herman Frank-Fight The Fear

Whitesnake - Flesh and Blood

L.A. Guns - The Devil You know

Dirty Honey - Dirty Honey EP

The Mothercrow - Magara

Michael Sweet - Ten

Dream Theater - Distance Over Time

Helloween - United Alive

It's not a restring until I'm bleeding.

Out of those the most old school "Dino", is probably Whitesnake. Not necessarily the best album, mind you.

I suppose a case could be made for LA Guns, or Herman Frank. I haven't heard them, so I don't know if they qualify as "good" but at least they are Dino.

The Helloween one is excellent, as I have said before, but not many seem to enjoy euro happy power metal in these parts.

Those were the bands I recognize as Dino. If there are any others I missed, speak up now. @Duojett71 @"Seven Moons" @Agrippa

The Arch/Matheos release is Dino....at least in my opinion....its the original singer for Fates Warning and Jim Matheos is the guitarist for Fates Warning....also features guest musicians like Joey Very of Armored Saint, ex Fates Warning Members and Bobby Jarzombek of Riot, Halford, Fates Warning, etc. More on the proggy Dream Theater side of things....but I would think it qualifies. It one of my favorite albums of 2019.

The Flotsam and Jetsam album I would also consider Dino if old school thrash bands count. They have been doing it since '85 or '86. Excellent album with lots of great Dino guitar.

Also whatever makes the final list that I have not heard I plan to listen to. I would encourage others to do the same. I know it was not a super Dino friendly year but I imagine all the albums nominated are worthy of a listen.
