He said at the time, there was some pressure for him to be out front as just a frontman. But shortly thereafter, he decided he missed playing bass too much and went back to doing both. Frankly, I think Glenn's bass playing has added a LOT of character to his music over the years. That funky groove he brings when he's on bass that, for example, is on the Hughes Thrall version of Muscle and Blood, and not present on the BJL version with another bassist.
It's not a restring until I'm bleeding.
