So I've been listened to this disc a few times through.

It's an interesting album. A few riffs and licks that were on A Fine Pink Mist show up here and there. But overall, I'd say the music on this disc is what you'd get if you mashed Badlands, Soundgarden and King's X into a blender and pushed record. The songs are more focused and this feels more like the output of a real "band" than the previous RDC disc.

Is it worth buying? If you want to send Jake some coin, sure. The entire album is out on YouTube to listen to for free, so there's that.

It ain't Bark at the Moon. It ain't Badlands. I don't think it's bad. But like most new music put out by artists that this board is dedicated to, it's just there. I guess the best thing I can say, is that it's there and I acknowledge its presence.

It's on Spotify, too. I'll check it out. Too late, I guess, to be in contention for DRG AotY.

I requested this CD for Christmas..so call me old fashioned or weird but I am waiting to listen to the album in it's entirety until I get the physical copy. I will listen to the prerelease singles when they come out and usually I will buy the album based off that. So for what I have heard from the RDC album I like.

I have the CD as well. And I have it in my car along with the Ultraphonix disc. It's funny, because my brain says that I like the Ultraphonix album more, but I find myself listening to RDC more. In fact, I listened to Ultraphonix twice, maybe three times and that's it.

To Jake's credit, Patina has a very raw sound.

I think a large part of why I don't give a fuck about new Dino rock is the Pro-Tools perfection approach. On the solo to Master of Puppets, Kirk pulled the E string off the fretboard. It was a mistake; they left it in. Lynch pulling the jack out of his guitar at the end of Til The Livin' End, amps hissing in the background, the random feedback, the ghost notes that appear out of nowhere all that shit's gone. It's clean. It's perfect. Everything is presented as intended.

Fuck that shit. That ain't rock. Rock is dangerous. Rock is something that the artist should never have absolute control over. It's bigger than their myopic bitch ass vision. Rock used to be about raw dogging some chick you shouldn't have picked up at the bar and hoping you didn't catch anything and she didn't get knocked up. Now it's all jerking off to internet porn.

Now hipster assholes are buying vinyls of albums recorded with Pro-Tools. Gimme a fuckin' break.

I like Patina....Doesn't blow me away...but I don't think that'll happen anymore....things have changed. Still a decent album in my opinion. Ultraphonix is excellent, one of the best of the yr at least for me.

I too like Patina. It's not douchebagmetal like the first RDC.

As old guys' new albums go, it's one of the better. RDC sounds like a band now and Jake sounds like himself again.

It's not album of the year material but it's a good album I will probably listen to a lot in the car.

There's nothing wrong with it, per-se, but it kind of seems like all filler. It's like a Jake album without even one classic Jake song on it (Bitter might be the closest, but it's no Dreams in the Dark or High Wire).
