Hi
Hi
Hi everyone,
Glad to be a member and looking forward to some like-minded chat. I'm 39 and have been playing guitar since I was 14. Played pro for a while until an injury forced me to quit the guitar for a few years. I love the 80s and wish it was permanently 1993 as that gives us a few cool bands and films that squeaked out and hungover into the 90s. Besides, the 90s got off to a storming start with Judas Priest, Van Halen, Metallica and Bon Jovi are releasing victorious 'comeback' albums and we even had metal-based major motion pictures: Bill & Ted, Wayne's World and Airheads.
Fave guitarists:
Eddie Van Halen. Absolutely untouchable.
Glenn Tipton - comes the closest to Ed. Pure genius. Epic long solos. So melodic.
Dann Huff - blistering technique, killer tone, very classy player, very melodic, always plays what's right for the song.
Jake E Lee - an absolute boss!!! Took Randy's solos to new heights, created his own memorable leads, looked killer and had the best moves ever.
Dave Murray - such a fluid, creamy tone and style. All that legato and improv. I chase his neck pickup sound!
Adrian Smith - didn't appreciate him until he was replaced (a la Michael Anthony). Classy. Arguably a little bit too understated.
Scotti Hill - a pretty standard guitarist on the surface but such great attitude, tone, vibrao, bending and note choice. So much passion.
Fave solos (limited to 3 per artist or else it'd be Eddie and Glenn for about 4 pages!)
Beat It, Love Walked In, Ice Cream Man - Van Halen
First Time - Coca Cola theme song - Ira Siegel
Beyond the Realms of Death, Reckless, Electric Eye - Glenn Tipton
18 and Life, I Remember You, In a Darkened Room - Scotti Hill
Get The Funk Out - Nuno Bettencourt
Aces High, Alexander the Great - Dave Murray
Stranger in a Strange Land, Wasted Years - Adrian Smith
The Final Countdown - John Norum
Walking by Myself[/color] - Gary Moore
I'll See You In My Dreams, Time to Burn - Dann Huff
You Shook Me All Night Long - Angus Young
Mr Crowley, Bark at the Moon - Jake E Lee
Living on a Prayer- Richie Sambora
I know it's a lot but hey - this is the place to indulge, right??? :woohoo:

Hi
I thought Mr. Scary might be more of a George Lynch fan...
I don't think Dann Huff gets enough appreciation. I love the solos you listed. :shred:
