Maybe I just should have gotten that little solid state SLO instead.

If you can crank it, why not? If you're just recording, the Mini is going to sound 99% the same.

Did you get one? Congrats, dream amp of mine. Needs a good attenuator to deliver the goods, but boy does it deliver the goods...

I barely have the volume on and it sounds amazing.

Fun fact… Both head fell off the cab, before I even plugged power cord in, they both took it like champs.

The SLO circuit gets its distortion from the preamp side. i.e. You don't have to run the amp hot. Not sure why you'd need an attenuator. A normal master volume circuit should do fine here.

I bought a volume control with it, not sure I’ll need it but it’s nice to have around. I can’t believe how every note it’s clearly audible. Multiple people told me I was in for a treat, they were not exaggerating. It’s true that the clarity of each note can expose a lot of sloppiness, but I also found that there are no notes that get lost, there is a note in the riff for Mr. Brownstone that when I play it through any other amp, it is barely audible. I don’t wanna shit on the Shiva that I had, because honestly I didn’t know how to balance the pre and power amps to get a nice overdrive sound, didn’t figure that out till I got the Jubilee, but this smokes every other amp I’ve owned… And it had better, at $3000 with tax.

Dude that's fantastic.  What a score.  I prefer the 30w to the full on SLO100.  I think among high gain amps, the SLO and Friedman are the most versatile, too.

The Friedman JEL 20 watt was one of the other heads I was leaning on, but I think I made the right choice.

It has some set of cojones!
