Re: Is anyone doing anything? (musically)
Yeah man, it is really hard. My weekends are mostly spent trying to recover from the drive. My ex and I bought a house about 2 hours north of the city right before we broke up (not my choice at all). I spent like 4 years living in the city with a psycho that made my ex look like Mary Poppins. I mov...

Re: Is anyone doing anything? (musically)
I actually just quit the fusion band that I've been playing with for the 8 years last week. The drummer who is the band leader suddenly decided that he wants to sing! He is not a singer, we had a gig booked at a place near where I live and he sent me a set list and it was half covers! And nothing t...

Re: Hybrid Picking
I've been hybrid picking since I saw Brett Garsed when I was at GIT.
I play a lot of country stuff, mostly Jerry Reed and Chet Atkins inspired stuff and you have to hybrid for that.
It's a lot of fun and definitely unlocks new stuff, especially for wider intervals.

Re: Smith/Kotzen
Kotzen needs a real producer and co-writers badly.
He has been making the same album for over 30 years now and although I love the 1st Winery Dogs album this stuff does nothing for me.

Re: Alex Van Halen book coming
I really enjoyed the book, I listened to it on my commute for a few days and I think Alex did an admirable job of reading it. One thing I have to say about Dave, he is most definitely not gay. My buddy was his weed dealer when he was a radio host in NYC. I knew a couple of the ladies that he was han...

Yesterday's Papers
I don't know if you guys have seen this youtube channel, but I've been obsessed with it for a couple of years now.
I have a 9+ hour playlist on Spotify that I've been compiling for a long time.
Not specifically Dino, but so much overlap.

Re: Eb, 9s, EVH and Manliness
I switched to 9's over lockdown after 30 + years of using 10's. Best thing I've ever done, I wish that I had done it sooner.
Way more control over every note and a lot more expressive on the bends.

Re: You Know What?
As a guitar teacher I can say definitely kids today are way more into 70's and 80's Rock and Metal guitar since I graduated from GIT back in 94. I have a half dozen teenage students right now and they all want to shred. It's great, I barely have to do any lesson planning. One kid I'm teaching now, ...
