Re: Great Vivian Campbell Interview
Viv said the DL thing was about the guy fitting in more than about the player's skill. I'm among the biggest Sykes fans on the planet, but even I know he was difficult as hell to work with. Sykes wouldn't have lasted 10 minutes in Def Leppard.

This Strat Can Sound Like ANY Guitar
The title is a bold claim, but you could always push a guitar's sound around a lot with EQ (see JP's Tele on Zep I). I think here, it's more accurate to say the pickups can be individually EQd, and saved with your settings. That's fairly impressive for people who want to tweak. OTOH, what guitaris...

Re: Great Vivian Campbell Interview
can't believe Viv is still going on about this, Ronnie was shafted even more by Ritchie in Rainbow, only receiving royalties after his death I believe. I think we saw with Sykes that certain old wounds never heal. Hell, I'm still pissed off at certain people I was in bands with in the 80s. And ...

Re: Great Vivian Campbell Interview
The problem back then was these big name singers -- be it RJD with Campbell, Ozzy with Jake, or Coverdale with Sykes -- all seemed to think: these flash guitarists are all a dime a dozen. This one wants too much money, I'll just get another one. They (somehow) didn't realize how integral they were t...

Re: Great Vivian Campbell Interview
It is a great interview. Reminder of Dio's side, directly quoted from his biography: Ronnie : Vivian later claimed that when we started out, I’d said to him that I would be bankrolling the band, but by the time we got to the third album, it would become more equal. After The Last in Line, I began h...

Re: Live Stream the final Sabbath show
Metallica ruled the day. They were awesome. Seeing Ozzy in the shape he's in was very hard. :( But seeing Tyler sing again was like someone took a knife out of my heart. Also, you fly Jake all the way out there, and he doesn't get to play Bark? Even with one of the cover bands? WTF? :confusion-sh...

Steven Tyler just sang his ass off at the Sabbath gig!
And looked like the total badass he's always been while doing it.
We were told he was done. That he'd never sing again. Ruptured chords or something horrible. Somehow his voice is back.
This is the best news I've heard in AGES.
