Re: Live Stream the final Sabbath show

I thought he played Bark and ever RDC gig.   He did. I have seen the videos. He didn’t do the outro solo, and I figured it was because c’mon, it is the hardest part of the song to play, and even then I figured he was having a hard time with it already. But it was a few years ago and that disease ca...

Re: Judas Priest Covers "War Pigs"

I get where you are coming from, but Tipton was there, at least in the video he shows up.

Re: Live Stream the final Sabbath show

Also, you fly Jake all the way out there, and he doesn't get to play Bark? Even with one of the cover bands? WTF?   :confusion-shrug:     Not their fault. Jake has been quite vocal to the fact that he can’t play that song anymore. Arthritis is a bitch. He chose Ultimate Sin himself as the one he wa...

Re: Judas Priest Covers "War Pigs"

Not bad, but TBH, Judas Priest doesn't swing . Zakk does a better job with this.    Yup. Travis is a very mechanical drummer, IMHO. He sounds like a machine most of the time. Great for ripping your head off, as in Painkiller , but he can't pull a Bill Ward or a Phil Rudd. And this of course drives ...

Re: Judas Priest Covers "War Pigs"

Glenn is apparently retiring after this. Saw it on FB the other day. He really seems unable to go on, and I for one am sad for that. He was one of my favorite players ever and a huge influence on me at a very formative age.

Re: Anyone familiar with Noiseless or Texas Special Fender pickups?

My Roadhouse Strat has the Texas Special pickups. It also has a switchable preamp, which I tend to turn on when I'm doing anything remotely crunchy. If I was going for a strictly Dino tone, I'd definitely look for a bridge pickup that's a bit rounder in the midrange with more output, but I have ple...

Re: I'm The One

Great job. Probably your best yet.

The overall tone seems a bit more compressed than the original VH1 one, but I get it might be the recording. For such an (in)famously elusive sound, you are damn close.

What are you using in the chain? Pickup? amp? etc.

Re: Brian Wilson

Oh no, I did not see this one coming at all.

A true musical genius. The 20th century musical movement wouldn't be the same without him.

RIP Brian.

Yeah, it is a bit weird. I saw a post yesterday, then nothing. I saw another one earlier today and went to wikipedia, where I suppose anyone could add it. Hopefully it is a hoax.

Rick Derringer

Not much online yet, but apparently Rick Derringer passed away yesterday.

Not sure if there might be many fans of him here. I think he was mostly famous for playing with both Johnny and Edgar Winter. He was a big name in guitar playing for a bit back in the day, I suppose.

RIP Rick.
