Re: DLR.. Make Of It What You Will

I saw the 5150 tour a month later, and as good as that was, I felt Roth's band was better.     Strong words, and you are not the first person who has mentioned this to me over the years. I was too young back then (still playing with Transformer toys LOL) So I can only go from what people who lived ...

Re: DLR.. Make Of It What You Will

Some people are "great singers," some people "sing great." Roth was only ever a guy who sang great, but he can't even do that anymore.    For what is worth, I saw a video of him performing Jump on the 90's, once. It was horrid even then. He has had no business close a microphone...

Re: DLR.. Make Of It What You Will

No offense to fans, but he  was never good to begin with. So it is not like anyone should expect much these days.

He is a legendary performer, showman, and was in top physical condition back in the day. No argument there.

But "great singer" was never part of his resume.

Re: And now, I'm a singer--- new album

I tried to do the John Sykes thing (play difficult guitar parts while singing totally different vocals lines), and I've discovered I can do it. Am I the best singer? NO. Am I the worst? No at all; I can sing in pitch, put some vibrato and bite to my voice so, why not? That's my voice, that's my mus...

Re: John Sykes’ Blue Murder Rack Recreated — It’s Glorious!

TBH, I don't remember if he was using Mesas with Blue Murder. He was using Marshalls with Lizzy. And he sounded AWESOME (and exactly like John Sykes) every time I saw him. I am about 90% certain he used the Mesas with Blue Murder. I think I read somewhere it was the same setup as the Snake album. H...

Re: John Sykes’ Blue Murder Rack Recreated — It’s Glorious!

That's a lot of effort for a meh sound.   It's a big topic, and one that could probably raise a big discussion, on this site in particular. I think most of us here love Marshalls, but a lot of us love the albums that sound was featured as well. I think it was DDave who said that that is the sound t...
