Myasnikov or Mezzabarba Nirvana owners?
I've been looking for a high-gain preamp to add to my stable of tone for those Lynch Mob moments, and I've been looking at Soldano/Bogner.. You know, the usual suspects. I'm curious if we have any Myasnikov or Mezzabarba Nirvana owners in the forum. For the price of one of the "classic",...

Re: How Corruption and Greed Led to the Downfall of Rock Music
Plus, AI music is just around the corner, ready to make all us musicians obsolete. I don't think it's going to make us completely obsolete, but it is going to generate an inescapable deluge of derivative mediocrity the likes of which the music world hasn't seen since the inception of Muzak. Th...

Re: How Corruption and Greed Led to the Downfall of Rock Music
People WILL buy music if they HAVE to. But if you don't force them -- if it's effectively free -- they won't. I agree with you 1000%. Unfortunately though, there is not now, nor will there likely ever be a means of digital commerce and secure distribution that will be able to enforce inte...

Re: How Corruption and Greed Led to the Downfall of Rock Music
As someone who traded tapes and recorded friends albums for free, I realize that's always been around. The industry always bitched about piracy, but even what you describe was SMALL scale at the consumer level compared to the situation now. That is, 90% of people still paid for music. Piracy didn'...

Re: How Corruption and Greed Led to the Downfall of Rock Music
It was over when people stopped HAVING to pay for music. Metallica was right about Napster. Imagine the streaming model of today (on whatever platform), but if you ONLY got to stream the music you PAID for. Per album or per song. And I don't mean the few bucks a year people shell out for Spotify....

Re: How Corruption and Greed Led to the Downfall of Rock Music
There was too much money to throw around and 20 bucks was way too much for a CD. Record execs were very short sighted when the internet thing blew up, they should have invested in anti piracy technology and lobby for laws, like the video game industry did, which now makes more money than the music ...

Re: Fulltone is back
I have zero interest in anyone's personal views, lifestyle, or personal choices. Especially someone who isn't a part of my life and is, for all intents and purposes, a complete stranger. If you can provide me with the tools that I need to ply my craft, I don't care what the hell you do/say. Not my f...
