Re: Sly Stone, dead at 82

Yeah I agree.... if you knew the stories...wheeewwwww.... damn. He was fucking killer,no doubt. I hear ya DDave, I feel the same.... we pretty much came up in the same era I  & remember this stuff, thankfully.Lots of good memories  & S&TFS were just like background music, in the early 70...

Re: Rick Derringer

Yeah the news is kind of weird, most sites say "reportedly" ....hmmmm..... Anyways, he was actually quite a badass, saw him live & met him in the early 90s & he was super friendly & cool but the dude smoked on the guitar....a lot more Dino than he probably gets recognized for. ...

Re: DLR.. Make Of It What You Will

I'm in the "it's cool to see Diamond Dave looking fit & still performing" camp for sure. I love his vocals on all the old stuff. Seems he's kind of become a "love him or hate him" kind of guy, whereas back in the day most people loved him.... VH crossed genres really & I ...

Re: A little Mad Mikey jam session

Yeah, I think that's part of his genius though....simple and effective and melodic. You're right though, I was like "shit I can do that!"  :D

I love how his timing, intonation and precision are still hallmarks of his style, he makes it look easy.

Re: A Lil Schenker Goodness

What Dave said.... Mad Mikey could care less about that stuff, probably less now than he did then  :) .... He never cared about trends, or gear, or whatever, it was all about making music.  I still have this issue. It's funny, a lot of these influencer YT guys, you can tell they basically were proba...

Re: Les Binks R.I.P.

I dug that CD out...it's called  Priest,Live & Rare & hoo boy it's a cracker .....it's live in Cleveland '78 on the Stained Class tour for 3 songs (Beyond The Realms of Death-White Heat,Red Hot-Starbreaker) and then the rest of the stuff from Point of Entry era & Screaming For Vengeance....

Re: Les Binks R.I.P.

Yes, he really was quite a powerhouse, just a killer old school drummer in the vein of the greats ..... it seems like he'd reconnected with KK over the last few years if I'm not mistaken, I always wondered if anything would come of that. I actually put Stained Class up there as among their best, abs...

The Man In Black is 80

Need I say more? The dude's been around, to put it mildly. I'll go out on a limb here & say he's a good part of why we're all here, more or less...... no he's not the inventor, be-all-end-all of rock guitar playing but he's certainly provided some key moments. The Wizard of the Stratocaster.  Ch...
