The Meat Puppets were a cool band. Their early stuff was hit and miss. LIke Guided By Voices they had amazing songs and some songs that were garbage. Their early 90's stuff was more consistent but maybe not as adventurous. I remember them getting some radio airplay and recognition after the Kirkwood brothers sat in with Nirvana on their Unplugged episode...doing probably a few of The Meat Puppets best songs. I will have to admit that the Nirvana versions with the Kirkwood brothers were probably better than the originals. Curt Kirkwood was a pretty good guitar player. I am curious about this.
Listening to the song now...I like it. It sounds like what you would get if you mixed Ween with Blue Oyster Cult....but it definitely sounds like The Meat Puppets.
They did some cool stuff back in the day. I always liked the early stuff. They were pretty original, but were also hit or miss. Still, I am going to check out this new album.
