    Cool article. I had to  rely on copies of Computer Music magazine (an expensive British publication that is usually worth its weight in gold). It's awfully nice seeing more concise writings.

    My go to is the Fabfilter Pro C. It's great on most instruments, and works perfectly as glue on the mix bus. The Waves SSL-G and -E channels and the UAD stuff is typically great too imo. I don't know much about the hardware.

  • We tended to stick with the classics as plug-ins 1176, LA-2A, and Fairchild, and sometimes those built into the consoles -- API and SSL.
